Primordial black hole (PBH) dark matter can be probed by "picolensing". Widely spatially separated gamma-ray detectors near Earth would observe parallax of an intervening PBH lens with respect to a cosmologically distant gamma-ray burst (GRB). This parallax can be of order the Einstein angle of the lens, resulting in differential magnification of the source as viewed from the two detectors. Simultaneous brightness measurements of the same GRB made by two detectors is sensitive to this effect. Two recent studies in the literature have shown this approach could be a promising way to search for PBH dark matter in part of the "asteroid mass window", roughly (few) * 1e-15 < M_{PBH} / M_{Sun} < (few) * 1e-11. In this talk, I will discuss some ongoing work to explore the robustness of this signal to various uncertainties not previously carefully accounted for: e.g., uncertainties in the transverse extent of the GRB emission region, its intensity profile, detector background rates, sensitivity of the projection to outlier GRB events, etc. I'll show that, while the large GRB source size uncertainties do degrade previous projections somewhat, it is still possible to probe most of the PBH DM asteroid mass window with a mission that employs two Swift/BAT-class detectors separated by a distance on the order of an AU. Depending on the total number of GRBs that such a mission ultimately observes, it may even be possible to robustly probe new subcomponent dark-matter parameter space at PBH masses above the window, potentially as high as (few) * 1e-6 M_{Sun}.

Pulsar timing arrays (PTAs) consist of a set of regularly monitored millisecond pulsars with extremely stable rotational periods. The arrival time of pulses can be altered by the passage of gravitational waves (GWs) between them and the Earth, thus serving as a galaxy-wide GW detector. Evidence for the first detection of low-frequency (~nHz) gravitational waves has recently been reported across multiple PTA collaborations, opening a new observational window into the Universe. Although the origin of the GW signal is yet to be determined, the dominant sources are expected to be inpiralling supermassive black holes (SMBHs). I will discuss a recent work in which we compare the GW detections by PTAs with the expected signal implied by existing electromagnetic observations in a simple but robust manner. This study suggests that the currently measured GW amplitude is larger than expected by a significant amount. I will then show that additional information regarding the typical number of sources contributing to the background can already be inferred from current PTA data.

With upcoming LIGO runs and new projects like LSST and ULTRASAT, black hole (BH)-powered multi-messenger events will be at the forefront of astrophysics. A major challenge in studying BH-powered explosions is the vast dynamical range between the BH and the emission site, which has hindered theoretical models from capturing the underlying physics from observations. Using 3D neutrino-general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic simulations, I will present the first such models, introducing an innovative model that now enables us to link GRB classes in mergers to their central engines and binary merger origins. For collapsing stars, I will demonstrate how our simulations open new frontiers in astrophysics, including a novel idea of how nascent BHs acquire their strong magnetic fields, heavy element nucleosynthesis in supernovae, the evolution of relativistic jets, new types of transients, and predictions of new vigorous, coherent, non-inspiral gravitational wave sources that may already be detectable by LIGO. These insights will be crucial for extracting the physics of transients from future gravitational wave and electromagnetic detections.

We will discuss the functor of geometric Whittaker coefficients in the context of quantum geometric Langlands. We will prove that tempered twisted D-modules on the stack of G-bundles on a smooth projective curve have non-vanishing Whittaker coefficients. Roughly, this means that a certain natural subcategory of twisted D-modules on the stack of G-bundles can be controlled by the category of twisted D-modules on the Beilinson-Drinfeld affine Grassmannian. The proof will combine generalizations of representation-theoretic and microlocal methods from the preceding works of Faergeman-Raskin and Nadler-Taylor respectively.

We construct the phase space of a spherically symmetric causal diamond in (d+2)-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. Utilizing the covariant phase space formalism, we identify the relevant degrees of freedom that localize to the d-dimensional bifurcate horizon and, upon canonical quantization, determine their commutators. On this phase space, we find two Iyer-Wald charges. The first of these charges, proportional to the area of the causal diamond, is responsible for shifting the null time along the horizon and has been well-documented in the literature. The second charge is much less understood, being integrable for d ≥ 2 only if we allow for field-dependent diffeomorphisms and is responsible for changing the size of the causal diamond. 

Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) is a powerful tool for probing both new physics and LCDM, and complements analyses utilizing the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) and results from particle experiment.  I will provide two examples of BBN probes of BSM models.  I will then discuss new kinds of analyses that can be performed with the recently-released fast and differentiable BBN code LINX.  In particular, LINX can be used to perform full BBN+CMB joint analyses at a level of sophistication that has never been achieved before, even in LCDM analyses.

Recent advances in General Relativity point toward unanticipated, and dynamic, relations between ultracompact objects and the universe they inhabit. The possibility for strongly gravitating systems, like astrophysical black holes (BHs) and their embedding cosmology, to directly interact has been dubbed "cosmological coupling." We focus on recent results from the DOE Stage IV Dark Energy (DE) Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), which strongly suggest that DE is dynamical. Using typical empirical models for the cosmic star-formation rate density as a proxy to BH production, we show that the DESI-inferred time-evolution of DE is consistent with cosmologically coupled stellar-collapse BHs as the source of DE. The predicted cosmological expansion rate today, H_0 = 69.94 +/- 0.81 km/Mpc/s, is in excellent agreement with H_0 = 69.58 +/- 1.58 km/Mpc/s recently reported by the Chicago-Carnegie Hubble Program using Cepheid, Tip of the Red Giant Branch, and J-Region Asymptotic Giant Branch stellar distance-ladder calibrations. With DESI Redshift Space Distortions and Year 3 datasets on the horizon, we highlight exciting prospects for further observational confrontation in the near term.

Dark matter and neutrinos are elusive neutral matter filling up our Universe. The PandaX (Particle and Astrophysical Xenon) experiment, located in the China Jinping Underground Laboratory, is dedicated to searching for dark matter particles and studying the fundamental properties of neutrinos. The current running experiment, PandaX-4T, contains a sensitive time-projection-chamber with a 3.7-ton liquid xenon target. In this talk, after an overview, I will present recent results from PandaX-4T in dark matter direct detection, double beta decay of 136Xe, as well as solar neutrinos. I will also present a concrete plan for the next-generation xenon observatory in CJPL, PandaX-xT.

We study the infrared on-shell action of Einstein gravity in asymptotically flat spacetimes, obtaining an effective, gauge-invariant boundary action for memory and shockwave spacetimes. We show that the phase space is in both cases parameterized by the leading soft variables in asymptotically flat spacetimes, thereby obtaining an equivalence between shockwave and soft commutators. We then demonstrate that our on-shell action is equal to three quantities studied separately in the literature: (i) the soft supertranslation charge; (ii) the shockwave effective action; and (iii) the soft effective action.
