Public Events
Perimeter's public events are organized by year and series or festival. Event Type is usually Lecture but multi-day events use event types Conference or Meeting. Public Events are listed on the Perimeter website, Kiosks and PI Universe email. Public Events are recorded on demand and published to PIRSA. Creation of new events is restricted to the PI Communications and Public Engagement admin team. Contact the Helpdesk or the PI Communications and Public Engagement to create a new public event. -
String Theory Course
We will review the basics of the bosonic string following the first eight video lectures on the topic by Freddy Cachazo, which can be found in 11/12 PSI - String Theory (Review) | PIRSA. We will aim at covering the definitions of the Nambu Goto and Polyakov actions, lightcone quantization, the string spectrum, and basic calculations of string scattering from 2d CFT correlators. The miniseries will last for four weeks and will consist of two video sessions per week, followed by a Q&A about the videos of the week lead by Adrian Lopez. -
Academic Training Lectures
The Academic Training Lectures take place from September to June and to provide CERN members - any contract type - with opportunities to deepen and broaden their academic knowledge. The candidate Abstracts are voted by the whole CERN community every year in May.
The Library has a collection of all the handouts since the start of the program in 1961. Most lectures from 1990 on wards have also been recorded. Since 2018 we can upload selected lectures in a dedicated YouTube playlist.
Please contact atc-members@cern.ch with suggestions.
