Abstract

In this talk, I will briefly present the timeline of quantum computing development. Focusing on current obstacles, I will discuss today’s challenges, highlighting the main types of quantum errors, such as coherent and incoherent errors, readout and initialization errors, and crosstalk, which represent significant obstacles in the noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) era. Building on this, I will explore the evolution of error-correcting codes, from classical foundations to the latest quantum approaches, as well as error mitigation strategies—essential tools for increasing computational reliability. This talk aims to shed light on the current barriers to quantum computing and the advances that drive the future viability of quantum algorithms.
