Abstract

In this talk, I will give a brief introduction to the basis of mathematical modeling in biology, mainly in ecology and epidemiology.  I will then focus on recent works and challenges in the modeling of the dynamics of epidemics, discussing the difference between modeling past epidemics and ongoing outbreaks.  In the end, I will discuss the place of theoretical developments in this area.
